All eyes are on the main emerging markets: Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC). Because of the
reduced opportunities in the western world, capital has been flowing to these countries in order to
generate some margin, as well as to capitalise on the growing domestic economies. Mexico is one of the
countries that has - at least in Europe - remained out of the limelight. But the second largest economy in
Latin America has seen some huge changes over the last decade and a half. Both on an economic and a
political level, the playing field has changed completely. Given the recent success of President
Calderón to finally implement structural changes in the country, it is time for a closer look.
